Dallas & son Bobbi back : NOVEMBER 15. Dallas, blue merle australian shepherd returned to the Park yesterday with her almost full grown pup : Bobby. They waited till they both got "fixed" and all healed up. Happy that Stuart the proud owner will be back around now. Now all we need is for Baxter to show up more often, and for Maverick to return from the Boston area - which rumor is he will. And they'll all be back together. Marley, Dutch Incident : SUNDAY evening ( May 18th ), Dutch a large ridgeback / mastiff mix {{{ A guest has written that DUTCH is NOT a ridgeback mastiff mix}}} attacked Marley, the young australian shepherd/border collie boy. {{{{ a guest has written in that "reacted to" would be a better description of Dutch's behavior. }}}} Though the attack was pretty scary for a moment there, ultimately it wasn't that horrible medically. Marley had a few small puncture wounds around his nose that stopped bleeding......... CHARLIE & FRANK BIRTHDAY : POOR Charlie & Frank. It was SO HOT !!! on Charlie's birthday that I'm not sure anyone was there . I hope/wish they would have another party this Saturday June 14th . A little later in the day. Charlie (girl) has been at the park since she was a tiny unstoppable thing. She turned one, and her neighbor Frank : six. Charlie got real sick a number of months ago; so, we're lucky to have her around.

TUBE ROLLED AWAY (got dangerous) : The big tube that has been maybe the top fun object in the park for the dogs had to be retired today. It developed a very dangerous piece of jagged protruding metal that already injured two dogs, luckily not seriously. The Tube was was always fun in terms of what dogs could jump up on it , and what dogs would or wouldn't go through the tube. The tunnel of it was always fun in the dog chases though I only know of one case of a dog leaping over it in a chase : Bud the bull terrier. Type "tube" in the search box on the homepage, and you'll see.Heard that someone is donating funds to replace it. I'll find out if I'm allowed to say who. Brian, John, Bill (of Sakagawea) and Jack ( of Tiki & Trixie) put their shoulders into it. Hilariously, for some reason, Harley the great dane lightly bit Brian on the butt .

BUD HURT (again) : HEARD that Bud the young bull terrier got cut up pretty bad a couple of days ago. What I "HEARD" was that some golden retriever : Duke "attacked " him. Heard that Bud has a cut up ear and side of his face, but didn't need any stitches. Poor Bud : 1st he's the dog that discovered the TUBE was falling apart by running into the torn metal piece of it, now this. Lucky he's made out of kryptonite. Such a fun, innocent spirit to have anything mean happen to him.

SNAKE FOUND : Snake was found back by the play schoolhouse area. Probably a "black racer" Or "black rat " snake. Both are non-venomous constrictors. Google them. Powder the white pitbull's owner went bravely there and picked it up cautiously. She even gave a kind of nature lesson to the son of the new dog Misha's owners. Then, She put it over the fence so it could go safely on its' way. Notice the Photo of my dog Maddie's face staring up at it. Just healed up after her battle with the muskrat, she's ready to go again.

Bill & SAKAGEWEA : What Happened ? Bill ( who owns the serene Sakagewea) has informed all that he is "resigning" from all the help he's been volunteering, and wishes to be removed from -even- the Friday Barbecue alert list. Some incident took place last week. All I've heard is that Brian got an eMail from Bill stating that Bill had broken up a fight 'tween dogs but one of the dog's owner took some kind of offence at his technique ( this is -like- 3rd or 4th hand hearsay) and went off on some kind of tirade at him. Great guy, bill, and Sakagewea was really blossoming. ANYBODY KNOW ANYTHING ?

HARVEY 1ST School Report : HARVEY FIRST REPORT CARD GUIDING EYES FOR THE BLIND Dog Name Harvey Tattoo 4X07 Raiser's Name ????? Report Dates 8/15/08 Instructor: Jean Kolor Your puppy is just beginning the earliest phase of training. This initial time period is a time of adjustment, a time when the trainer and dog bond and a time for laying the foundation for all the work that is still to come. Please remember that each dog is treated as an individual and will be introduced to new skills and concepts at a pace best suited to his or her needs and abilities. Medical evaluation - Done ( X ) Hip and elbow x-rays: Our staff veterinarian radiographs the hip and elbow joints to verify the absence of hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia and other joint diseases which are hereditary malformations that can result in lameness later in life. Spay or Neuter: Once the breeding director indicates that your dog is not under consideration for becoming a member of the breeding colony, our staff veterinarian either spays (removes the uterus and ovaries) or neuters (removes the testicles) the dog. Recovery time can be up to 10 days or so during which no training would occur. Eye exam: The eyes are examined with an opthalmoscope to verify the absence of cataracts or other eye diseases that could effect vision. The eyes will be examined again later in training as some problems only appear when the dog is a little older. General physical exam: The heart, ears, skin, mouth, neurological function and general health are carefully examined. The past medical history is reviewed. Sometimes minor abnormalities are found that are not reason for release but are monitored carefully for recurrence or increase in severity. Social activities Community run: After being neutered and getting acquainted with their trainer, dogs have social and play time in the community run with about 20 other dogs. Community run is supervised by the instructors to maintain positive interactions and stop undesirable behaviors such as rough play, mounting, stool eating, etc. Kennel behavior: Each dog has one or two roommates. Other than feeding time when they are separated to ensure that each dog gets his or her full meal, the dogs are together. The kennel runs are quite large and have automatic watering devices called Lixits. The dogs play and run around in the kennel at times when they are not engaged in training or work with their instructor assistant. Regular training periods take place in the kennel to teach dogs to be quiet and not to bark excessively. The dogs are expected to sit and stay for their food just as you taught them at home. Dogs are fed once a day at 11:00 a.m. unless the volume of food or the dog’s weight necessitate twice daily feedings. The food is weighed to ensure that proper amounts are fed. Dogs are weighed weekly and food portions are adjusted accordingly. The instructor may want specific dogs to carry a little extra weight in anticipation of stressful training periods, so do not be alarmed if your dog is a little heavier than during puppy hood. DIESEL is HERE : DIESEL has arrived, 1st time at dogpark. He has some big paws to fill. Spot was one of the great ones. Heard the PUGSLEY was so sad he didn't eat for a week. But the DIESEL story is a good one. He's an older dog , around 8 or nine, and badly needed rescuing. I'll get the story clear in a day or so.

FOUND: lost shiba inu : ZELDA HAS BEEN FOUND. SAFE AGAIN & WELL AT HOME She found not far from home by her owners..... All, Zelda (age 4), a creme colored Shiba, has gone missing. She was last seen at home in Ossining around 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday 9/9. Her owners, Jack and Vanessa, think she may have been stolen or escaped through a small hole in the window screen.
